Silicon Valley data center development is FULL STEAM AHEAD

Updated: Jul 11, 2019

You know it's serious when BART is involved...

Expansion of critical facility infrastructure continues in the Santa Teresa region of San Jose.  Capitalizing on upgraded connectivity and increased power availability, RiCloud has begun construction on the new Colocation Data Center.

Architect Jeff Gyzen, AIA, Principal at Corgan, is pleased to see the program move into action.  Jeff has helped design and deploy over 200 data centers worldwide over the past 33 years.

“The development of the RiCloud Data Center reinforces the continued support and growth of one of the industry’s greatest technology hubs, The Silicon Valley” Jeff stated.

The new data center will be neighbors with Northrup Grumman, Western Digital, BAE Systems, Equinix, Toshiba America, and Extreme Networks.  DCi Data Center Infrastructures is the Owners Representative and Construction Manager for the new data center build.  “Making your way through the Santa Teresa neighborhood, you can feel the technology evolution all around you.” commented Brett Semans, Principal at DCi.

Adjacent to the new RiCloud facility, an existing building is being demolished to make way for another new data center. New electrical substations are in the works to feed the growing demand in the region. Commissioning of RiCloud Phase 1 is scheduled to begin later this year.  Additional notable; It’s really happening. The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) indicates Bay Area public transportation is taking a giant leap forward with the projected opening of San Jose BART (Bay Area Regional Transit) by November 2019.
